The sweet folks at Ila Security sent me the Dusk personal alarm….it’s the little flowery one on the top right. It hooks to my purse, and not only does it look cute, but it “emits a piercing, high decibel female scream designed to shock and disorientate an attacker”. Yikes!

I’m happy to say that I haven’t had to use it yet…and I can’t bring myself to pull the little chain to hear what it sounds like…{maybe I can convince my son to don some earplugs and pull the chain?!}. I do carry it with me any time I am walking by myself in the city at night {it’s not often…but JUST in case…}. They have other personal safety products too…some of which are shown above. Not all of their products are available in the states…visit the Ila Security site to check availability.

I was welcomed back home with freezing cold weather and snow! Vacation is officially OVER. We had a blast, and I wanted to share my favorite store from the little village of Sayulita, Mexio, where we stayed. It’s called Gypsy Galeria, and is cram-packed with local handcrafts. They have a ton of oilcloth goods {all my photos turned out with an ugly reflection}, Frida Kahlo’s mug is on anything you can imagine, beautiful handwovens, all of the crafts are displayed beautifully, and it’s just steps from the beach. What I love the most is that everything in the shop is hand selected. It’s not just the same ‘ol tourist crap, and it satisfies my need to buy a few cute things while I’m away. I miss it already.

My head is already on vacation. Does this happen to you before you go on a big trip? I’ve been mentally gone for about two weeks now {though my husband might say it’s been WAY longer…ha!}. Anyhow, we are on our way to our most favorite place in Mexico for a little relaxation…it’s a little town called Sayulita. No resorts & no chain restaurants…just a sparkly-golden beach and a whole lot of relaxation. We took the picture above on our trip to Sayulita last year. I’ll come back with lots of things to post about…I already have some great things in my queue {like a DIY post from Kelly at Make, Grow, Gather}…and there are always a ton of handmade goodies from Mexico to share! Have a great week everyone! I’ll catch up with you all on April 6!

All of their products have had a previous life….their repurposed luggage is my favorite! {I swear that my parents have the exact same brown suitcase in the closet back home somewhere…it’s just not as cool without the little gold airplanes all over it!}. I’m officially inspired to do more.
