I haven’t posted a “tuesday tunes” in a while…but I heard this single by Regina Spektor on Stereogum, and loved it! Hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was fun…BUT…my dogs were sprayed by a skunk on Saturday, and we’ve spent the last two days trying to rid our dogs and house of the funky smell. UGH!!!

There’s no segue between the skunk, and tuesday tunes…I just felt the need to complain about our plight a little more!

I have a new favorite band. Again. I’m fickle, I know…but THIS band is my current 2009 favorite. And this song….is AMAZING….I couldn’t find a real video for you to see online, so I thought I’d post the only one I could find. Hope you enjoy!

Hi all! Hope everyone is having a great week…

My latest favorite album of the year…is by a band called Wussy. Just love it. Found this video online, and thought it was a good one. Skip to .55 seconds into the video {warning: swears} to hear the song…

I used to attempt to force my girlfriends in high school to listen to my music. It never went over very well. I tried to do the “it’s my car… listen to my music” thing, but ended up listening to Ratt or Phil Collins anyway…instead of Echo and the Bunnymen or Fear. Ah well!  tuesday tunes is just me saying “it’s my blog…listen to my music”. ha ha! Hope you like the song…

And, as for a song…I chose my favorite Norwegian artist, Sondre Lerche…as a little ode to our exchange student from Norway who lived with us last year {2007-2008 school year}. She and her girlfriend came back to stay with us for two weeks, and just left on Sunday. I already miss her a ton. So, this one is for Hilde!

It’s an old tune, but I have yet to tire of it…hope you enjoy!

I can’t get enough of this song, “Buddy” by the band Iran. Little did I know that one of the band’s members is Kyp Malone from TV on the Radio {I’m a big, huge, crazy fan of the band, TV on the Radio}…I had no idea! Anyhow, I think the LaLa player that I’ve posted only gives you part of the song…so you can listen to the whole thing here {their MySpace page}.

I love the internet. Here’s how I found this song {it’s a couple of years old, but I had never heard it}:

Last week I had a gal named Amanda Donaho follow me on Twitter…so I went to her site to check it out {she’s a photographer based in Ohio}. As I was perusing her great portfolio, the song, Trouble by an Ohio band, Over the Rhine came on. Usually music on a website is a bit of a peeve of mine, because it usually interferes with what I’m already playing…but I just couldn’t seem to get enough of this little tune. I haven’t listened to any more of their music…but if you like it and want to know more, here’s Over the Rhine’s website {click the little record player option on the right, and you can listen}.

Thought I’d bring you a favorite indie band every Tuesday. Anyone who knows me, knows that I’m music obsessed…so I feel the need to do more than just twitter about what I’ve been listening to!

• My VERY favorite album is by TV on the Radio and their album Dear Science. Couldn’t get enough of this. Here’s a link to their video Providence.

• Next in line is Noah and the Whale’s album Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down {even though I’m REALLY bummed to hear their song on a Saturn commercial…that’s usually is a deal-breaker for me}. Here’s a link to a video of their song “Shape of my Heart”.

• Next is The Heavy and Great Vengeance and Furious Fire. I listened to this disk for about 3 months straight. Here’s a vid:

• Next is Helio Sequence and Keep Your Eyes Ahead. This is one of my favorite songs:

• Vampire Weekend’s self titled album is my next fave. What I love even more than their poppy music is their 80′s garb. They personify geek chic. Here’s a video:

Because I need to stop at some point, I’ll just leave it at my top 5. Though, I was also loving Lykke Li, Frightened Rabbit, Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson, The Dodos, Why?, and last-but-not-least Flight of the Conchords {hilarious EVERY time I listen}.

Holly from Decor 8 blog suggested that fellow bloggers post what music they are listening to, then link back and maybe find common ground or some new tunes! I’m all over this. Anyone who knows me is WELL AWARE of my music obsession. So, here goes {in no particular order}:

I love the poppy goodness that is Ra Ra Riot. Especially the songs “Can You Tell” and “Dying is Fine”. So good {btw, you can download “Dying is Fine” from their site…scroll down a tiny bit…it’s on the right}. It’s in my car’s disk player as we speak.

My favorite album of the year is Alopecia by the band Why? My very favorite songs on the album are “The Vowels Pt. 2″ and “The Hollows”. I’ve been playing this over and over for months.

We Were Promised Jetpacks is probably the best band name of all time. I love their music…but have to go to their myspace site to hear it. They are from Glasgow, massively hyped, super young and unsigned. No albums out there that I can find. You can {legitimitely} download “Quiet Little Voices” via KEXP‘s song of the day. Catchy goodness.

Lastly, I’m totally in love with the Watson Twins cover of The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven”. I think I’ve listened to it 20 times in the last couple of days. It’s from their most recent album. You can hear it on their myspace page {One of my favorite music blog reads, Thanks Captain Obvious turned me on to this song}
